Presentation

Fifty years ago Kilruane MacDonaghs defeated Toomevara to win their tenth North senior hurling title. Hughie Tooher lined out at full forward on that team. Earlier this year he celebrated his eightieth birthday and to mark this milestone and the golden jubilee of the ’59 victory the club made a presentation to Hughie last Friday evening in Bushy Park nursing home. Tom McLoughney, a colleague of Hughie’s on the victorious team, presented him with a specially framed photograph of the Kilruane MacDonaghs 1959 side. Also in attendance were chairman, Connie Grace, secretary Kay Cahalan, P.R.O. Gilbert Williams, nephew Martin, niece Geraldine, grandnieces Joyce, Shauna and Lianne and grandnephew Michael. The club would like to thank Fionnuala Gaynor who copied, framed and captioned the photograph in a very professional manner and to Andy Whelan who recorded the presentation on camera. Thanks to the management and staff of the nursing home who facilitated the presentation. A more comprehensive report and photographs can be viewed on the website.
