Monster Sale of Work & Auction

With less than two weeks to go, Sale of Work fever has hit the parish. Young and old are putting their shoulders to the wheel as preparations go into overdrive for the Monster Sale of Work & Auction, which takes place in the Thomas MacDonagh Complex on Sunday January 27th at 2.00pm. Bright posters, prominent throughout the parish and in neighbouring towns and villages, proclaim to all and sundry that the Big Day is looming. The colourful and informative Newsletter, issued to coincide with the Sale of Work, has been distributed to every house in the parish. As momentum builds, our supporters have responded in typically generous fashion and we would like to thank all who have pledged items. A huge quantity of quality split timber has now been assembled. All timber purchased will be promptly delivered. We are still looking for donations of timber, turf, briquettes, farm produce, fodder, vouchers, cakes, buns, beer, spirits, electrical goods, furniture etc. Any items, big or small, which can be lawfully turned into euros, will be gladly accepted. Can YOU help us out? All donations will be gratefully acknowledged.

Len Gaynor 086-3110657 is co-ordinating the timber operations, so if you can donate a tree or a load of timber contact Len, Michael Hogan 087-7632729 or Matt Cleary 087-4171382.

For all other items you can contact Gilbert Williams 087-2176452, George O’Leary 087-1222816, Mary McLoughney 087-7740848 or any member of the committee.

There will be unbeatable bargains available at the various stalls (cake, toy, grocery, clothes, book etc.). The book stall will feature the largest ever collection of books to go on sale in the parish. Everything must sell on the day. The ever popular Wheel of Fortune will be a magnet for patrons, with fantastic prizes and many free spins. Numerous novelty items such as Go Karting, Pony & Trap Ride, Steady Hand, Face Painting, Penalty Shoot & Guess Number of Sweets in Jar will appeal to the whole family. There will be a raffle for a trailer of timber. Tea will be served all day, with all you can eat for a euro, and a shop will also be in operation. It’s going to be the Sale of the Century. Don’t miss it!

One of the major attractions at the Sale of Work will be the Berg Go Karting. Children will have the opportunity to drive the Pedal Karts on the Berg track.
