Junior Hurling

The junior A hurlers recorded their second win in the league when they overcame Lorrha in MacDonagh Park. Team: Shane Williams, Cian Williams, Martin Walsh, Eanna Hogan, William Cleary (0-1), Colm Williams, Cormac Williams, Ruan Casey (0-1), Mike Reddan (0-1), Ger Corcoran (0-1), Thomas Cleary (0-5), Declan Barrett (1-2), Eoin Williams (0-3), Thomas Williams (0-9) and James Keogh (0-3). Subs: David Williams (0-1), Timmy Walsh, Morgan Conway and Edmond Morkan (0-1). The club wishes a speedy recovery to Mike Reddan who sustained a broken collar bone near the end of the game. Mike had given his usual wholehearted display and his absence will be a severe blow to the team. On this Saturday MacDonaghs will be away to Templederry at 7.00 p.m.

Junior C Hurling

The junior C hurlers opened their league campaign with a hard fought away victory against a very competitive Knockshegowna on a 1-12 to 1-10 scoreline. MacDonaghs were a point ahead at the break. In a very evenly balanced second period an opportunist goal by Eoin Williams proved to be the decisive score in securing victory. Team: David Williams, Fergus England, Colin England, Timmy Walsh, Eoin Burns, David Slattery, Cian Williams, Cormac Williams, Gary Prout (0-1), Morgan Conway (0-1), Denis Cahill, James Keogh (0-6), Eoin Williams (1-3), Michael Reddan (0-1) and Jason Darcy. Subs: Kevin Prout, Stephen McCarthy, Danny Reddan and Mark Spain. In the second round Kilruane will be at home to Ballina.

Minor Hurling

Best of luck to David Reddan, Niall O Meara and Justin Cahill and the Tipperary minor hurling team against Clare. All three acquitted themselves well in the first round clash against Cork.

Schools Hurling

Ardcroney N.S. and Kilruane N.S. took part in the U-12 hurling blitz in Drom. Kilruane had three points to spare against Ardcroney and then booked their place in the next round with a 5-4 to 3-2 victory against Upperchurch N.S. In the North championship Kilruane N.S. proved too strong for Scoil Eoin Naofa from Roscrea. In the second round they will play Newport N.S.

Parish League

The second round of the parish league was held in MacDonagh Park last Saturday. In the first game De Wets chalked up their first win when they had two points to spare against Rapla on a 6-2 to 6-0 scoreline. Sean McAdams was the hero for the winners with three goals. In the second game Kyle went to the top of the table thanks to a 2-7 to 2-4 victory against Ballycapple. Next Saturday Ballycapple take on De Wets in the opening game followed by Rapla against Kyle. U-12 Football

The U-12 footballers lost out by the minimum of margins to Nenagh Eire Og in the semi-final in Puckane. Nenagh were the better team in the first half and led by five at the interval. On the resumption MacDonaghs improved considerably and reduced the deficit to a point. However, despite incessant pressure they couldn’t secure the equalizer.
